PRE-TRIP INFO 

Fishing in Argentine Patagonia is a rewarding experience, not only in terms of the number and size of the fish, but also in terms of the fantastic wildlife and the rich regional culture. Here are a few hints to help you get the most of your time down south.

Terms, Booking
Your booking is not confirmed until a 50% non-refundable deposit is received. The remainder of the deposit falls due 90 days prior to travel. All guests are reminded to take out appropriate travel and cancellation insurance. Please fill out the booking form and send to Loop Adventures. 

Visa
There is no advance visa application requirement for travel to Argentina for citizens of most European countries and the USA. You will automatically be issued a tourist visa upon arrival at the first point of entry. We will advise on receipt of your passport details if the Argentinean authorities require additional information relative to your nationality.

International Flights
These are not included in the price of your fishing holiday and it is the responsibility of individuals to make suitable arrangements.
Our Argentinean operations team, (Gabriel Tournour), can however make these arrangements for you. If you require this service please indicate on the booking form and he will contact you with the necessary information andoptions that are available.

Domestic flight / Travel Service Package
If you choose to make use of our service package we will arrange your flights to and from Buenos Aires and Gallegos / or Calafate, book your hotel whilst you are in Buenos Aires and arrange all your travel in Buenos Aires between the airports and your hotel.

A representative with a Loop sign will meet you on arrival in Buenos Aires, once you have cleared customs. Normally all international flights arrive early in the morning and if you elect not to spend a night in Buenos Aires the connecting flight is from Jorge Newberry domestic airport in the afternoon around 2-3 pm. The transport between airports takes approximately 1 hour.

We will transport you to the domestic airport for your connection and assist you with retrieving the e-ticket and with check-in at the domestic airport. If you choose to overnight in Buenos Aires, before travelling to Gallegos, you will be transported to your hotel and taken to the domestic airport the following day.  On your way home you will again be picked up and all your movements taken care of between the hotel and the International airport as required.To assure places on the flight to Gallegos or Calafate we must have your travel arrangements to and from Buenos Aires a minimum of six weeks prior to travel as this flight is normally fully booked.To order this package and to get prices: please contact our partner in Rio Gallegos gabriel@looptackle.se

N.B
If you have booked the travel package with us and for some reason you do not connect with the representative at the airport, please arrange a taxi to take you to either your hotel or direct to the domestic airport if it is on Saturday morning.  At the domestic airport you will receive your e-ticket by showing your passport at the Aerolineas Argentinas check in.  Please save the receipt and the cost will be deducted from the service package price. 


Individual Travel Arrangements to Rio Gallegos
You will require to book the internal flight from Buenos Aires domestic airport to Rio Gallegos city flying with Aerolineas Argentinas. (Please note that it takes approx 50 min to transfer between the international and domestic airports in BuenosAires.)

The outbound flight departs on Saturday at 15.20 hrs and depart Rio Gallegos airport at 11.25 hrs. The flight timeis normally 3 hours however occasionally the flight diverts over Ushuaia, the worlds most southern city, which takes an additional 2 hours. It is therefore strongly advised that your international flight is booked on Sunday, thereby allowing forany complications which might arise.

On arrival at Rio Gallegos you will be met by Las Buitreras staff and transported by 4x4 or mini bus to the lodge.
The journey takes approximately 50 minutes.

Accommodation in Buenos Aires
The price of your hotel room is not included in the travel service package however we will book you into our preferred hotel, Hotel NH Florida on San Martin Av, unless you inform us otherwise.  This hotel is situated in the centre of Buenos Aires provides all the facilities that you would expect from an international hotel.

Buenos Aires City
Buenos Aires is a beautiful and vibrant city with a fantastic atmosphere and a wide variety of eating and entertainment possibilities at a very reasonable price. Travellers in Buenos Aires are advised to apply the usual security precautions prevailing in any large city in the world. Be careful of personal possessions particularly expensive watches and cameras and remain alert to your surroundings. Good restaurant – Las Lilas, book table at reception!

Clothing
Pack light, warm and windproof clothing. Most of the fishing occurs in the Argentine summer, but at parallel 53 souths, the days can be chilly, particularly when the wind blows! Those visiting us in the late season can count on cold mornings and evenings. Windbloc and Windstopper fleece products are very good and when combined with breathable waders and jacket, offer superior protection that will keep you warm and comfortable all day. Prepare to dress in layers. The sun is intense because the ozone layer is thin in this part of the world and you may encounter very warm weather as well. Tropical “flats clothing” in neutral colors can be worn to advantage under warmer outer layers. Remember your sunscreen and polarized sunglasses!
