Sten Ludvig Ruud brought some new friends with him this year. Apart from Bent C Christiansen (who has been here with Sten the last two years) we welcomed Ulla Britt Jonsson, Anna Lena Jonsson, Werner Scuppisser and Nicholas Brock to Las Buitreras.

Perfect water conditions and fairly calm weather made it easier for the four newcomers during the first days. Nick and Werner had fished before, although not in conditions like these.The ladies were total novices and should receive a standing ovation for their ability to learn how to cast and for being at the water for hours on end.

All got into fish, some big some small. Nick hooked into a huge 20 lbs chromer at Old Bridge. Werner had some good fish this week as well as Ulla Britt and Anna Lena.  All this happened around Sten and Bent who I don't think really noticed it as they were locked in yet another "Who catches the most struggle". This year Bent came out on top with 15 nice seatrout on the tally.

I don't think we've had more business plan proposals than this week. One suggestion, from the Ladies, was to build an add-on called "Tha Las Buitreras Beauty and Spa Fishing Resort". We have to consider this proposal for a while...

If the three first days were calm the last three were the exact opposite. Winds up to 100 km/h made it very hard to fish but noone in the group stayed in the lodge. All valiantly battled these conditions with honor. And yes fish were caught. A seatrout caught under these conditions is a real achievement and something to remember for a long time.

As always a lot of good food and wine, from the superb chefs in the kitchen, were consumed along with lots of stories and laughter.
The tango lessons in the middle of the night was a sight for sore eyes. What better way to straighten out those kinks in your bones than having some tango lessosn from our guide Diego?
