Cayo Las Bruja – Cayo Santa Maria World Class Fishing for Tarpon

From December 2008, Loop Adventures in coop with Planet Fly Fishing and Casa Batida took over the management of the fishing area on the north coast of Villa Clara province in Central Cuba in the west sector of Jardines del Rey. Unesco has declared this region a reserve of the biosphere. The area is beautiful and has all attributes for flyfishing with channels, mangroves and flats.

Formula 1!
This is high-octane! Precise fast casting is the medicine. Fish from 10 to 80 lbs are present all year long and very big migrating tarpons up to 160 lbs start to show up in great numbers from March onwards. Classic sight flats flyfishing combined with chances in mangroves and channels when weather or tide is wrong for flats. Always a chance. Fishing for big snappers and jack is also great.

News
Welcome to our third season in the wonderful watersheds of Santa Maria area.

Seasons are as follows:
High season:March 25 – July 30 Good season: March, Aug and Sept.

Furthermore there will be some very important improvements in the organisation.

• Only 4 boats – all with new faster motors that makes it possible to really enjoy all of the huge area.

• Protected park area with some of the best tarpon fishing in the world and with the new protection all commercial netting for bonefish is now finally stopped. The extremely rich flats will explode with bonesfish and other species the coming seasons.

• Radios in all boats.

• Possible Special 6 rod/week program with 4 days double- and 2 days single skiff through hosted weeks.

• As before, we will have all the latest Loop Salt tackle free to borrow.

Family friendly
The Melia Las Dunas 5 star hotel offers a true family resort with many family oriented activities. White sand beach, pool areas, all inclusive bars and retaurants.

Easy transports
This place is easy to reach by car 4,5 hrs or by plane 50 minutes, from Havana.
A 48 km cause way links Cayo Las Brujas, Cayo Ensenachos and finally Cayo Santa Maria where the hotels are located.

Full service
We will provide full services from the arrival of the clients in Havana. VIP welcome, airport transfers, accommodation in Havana Melia Cohiba and Santa Maria Melia Las Dunas (all inclusive), organisation of fishing, camp services and all fishing tackle free to borrow.

Like on all Loop Adventures destinations you have the option to travel light, as we will have a full service room with all the latest, easy to use, salt water fly tackle available to borrow free of charge.

Itinerary 2011

Friday
Arrive Havanna with VIP meeting service. Transfer to Hotel Melia
Cohiba. Accomodation in double-room (single-room is at extra cost)
Meeting in lobby at 8 pm with welcome dinner at the Italian restaurant, hosted by our local partner – Fabrizzio Barbazza.

Saturday
Morning flight to Santa Maria. Transfer and check in at Hotel Melia Las Dunas, 5 star, all inclusive. Briefing by local manager Mauro. Plenty of time to relax, go swimming, mojitos, enjoy. Transfer to marina at 3 pm to meet head guide, prepare tackle and fish. Buffet open 7pm at hotel.

Sunday – Friday
Breakfast 6 am at 24 hr bar where also lunch packages are prepared. Depart to marina 6.30 am. Fishing all day to 3-4 pm.
Minibus to hotel from the marina 3.30 pm – 4 pm
(the group have the option to decide which time).

Saturday
Bus departs at approximately 1 pm to Havanna for evening international flights.
